Atari Centipede is a classic video game by Atari. This shooter game was created by arcade game designers Dona Bailey and Ed Logg. It was first released in 1980. The player is the Bug Blaster located at the bottom of the screen. The objective of the game is to shoot the centipede advancing toward the Bug Blaster from the top of the screen. Each time the centipede hits a mushroom, it will move down one row. Shooting the head or tail will shorten the centipede, but shooting one of the middle segments will split it in two. If the centipede is shot, it will move down as well. Meanwhile, spiders will chase the player around the bottom of the screen, fleas will drop new mushrooms to block your shots, and scorpions will poison the mushrooms to make the centipede more aggressive. The aim of the game is to survive for as long as possible.
